Referee Information

To officiate BPAA Soccer games, referees must be certified by the Minnesota State Referee Committee. The 2023 Minnesota State Referee Committee Certification Program is now open for enrollment (click here).   The Minnesota State Referee Committee website contains the list of all clinics available for training as well as online registrations.

Prospective referees should complete the Referee Application Form. If you are over 18 years of age, you also will need to complete the informed consent for criminal background check. This now done online here.

All referees must attend the orientation meeting to review referee responsibilities and league rules.  If you cannot attend because of a scheduling conflict, the BPAA Referee Coordinator must be notified.  Otherwise, you will not be assigned games.

Orientation meeting:  Monday June 24th at 7-8pm; Brooklyn Park Community Activity Center, Grand #1.)

It is mandatory for all referees to go through the free concussion training. You can do this at any time in advance of the season, it does not take long to complete, and it is good for three years.  When finished, email your certificate of completion to the address below.  That's it!  Contact us for further details or questions about completing the concussion training as a referee.

Send completed concussions certifications via email to: bpaasoccer@gmail.com

If you ever have concerns about a coach of a team in a game that you referee, don't hesitate to contact us and report the situation.

Referee Compensation

U6-U7 only - $25 Center Referee

$35 Center Referee

Affiliated vs. Unaffiliated Programs

For those of you applying for or renewing your referee license, you will notice that you need to indicate at least one club or league for which you will make yourself available on the MNSRC (Minnesota State Referee Committee) website, and that BPAA Soccer is not one of them.  BPAA Soccer is unaffiliated with MYSA (Minnesota Youth Soccer Association), which means it cannot be listed as an official club or league with MNSRC.  We still make it a requirement that our referees are trained and certified by MNSRC because we want all our officials to be trained appropriately.  But because we are an unaffiliated league, BPAA sports carries separate insurance that covers our coaches, referees, and committee volunteers.  If you ever have any questions about refereeing in our program, don't hesitate to contact us.
