Coaching BPAA Soccer

Coaches are essential to making BPAA soccer work.  Here you can sign up to be a coach, find coaching resources (for many different levels and situations), and download game reports, as well as see who is coaching in BPAA soccer this year.

Sign Up to be a Coach or Assistant Coach

Please complete the application (above) if you are interested in being a coach or assistant coach for BPAA Soccer.  Note:  Requests for coaches and assistants to work together may or may not be honored based on the needs of team formation within each division. Coaches or assistants who are parents of a player are always placed together.

Background Check

All coaches (age 18 and above) need to complete a Child Protection Background Check. This is done online. Go to this link to complete the form and provide consent.  Background checks must be done annually.

Concussion Certificate

It is mandatory for all coaches to go through the free concussion training You can do this at any time in advance of the season and it does not take long to complete.  CDC concussion training must be done once every three years.  This is a requirement of the state of Minnesota.

Tips and Recommended Reading for Coaches

Did you know...there is a medium size soccer goal in the following parks for teams to practice at: Orchard Trail, Willowstone, Sunnylane, Hartkopf, Monroe, Meadowwood, Cottonwood, Northern Trail, Jewell, Sunkist, Trinity Gardens, Lakeland, Hamilton, and Royal Oaks. Teams may practice at these locations on a first come, first serve basis.  To view details on parks in Brooklyn Park, click here.

Please maintain appropriate respect for referees at all times (before, during, and after games). Coaches set the tone for the parents of players in this regard.

Helpful resources (at left): (1) An article about the three most misunderstood rules in soccer (A Coach's Three Wishes); (2) an article all coaches (and parents) should read on the difference between coaching and directing.
