Soccer Philosophy and Rules

Good Sportsmanship is our number one goal

The BPAA Soccer Committee believes Good Sportsmanship is the number one goal of our activities. Winning and losing are secondary to the development of good character and love for the game of soccer. Parents and coaches should always be conscious of setting good examples for our players. All participants should be learning soccer skills, teamwork, and respect for all coaches, other players, and referees.

Coaches set the example

The coaches are responsible for the behavior of their teams, and the parents that are watching the game. It is the responsibility of the coach to enforce compliance with the BPAA rules of conduct.

Referees are in charge of calling the game

The referee is in charge of the game, and the referee's decision is final. The referee can suspend the game due to misconduct.

Parent & Coach Issue Escalation/Resolution Process

At any point during the season, we feel strongly that the best place to solve an issue or misunderstanding is as close to the people involved as possible.  Hence, when a parent or coach has an issue, their first action should be to take any time necessary to remain calm and discuss the issue with one another in a calm, professional manner.  If it takes a 24 hour cooling off period for the people involved to remain calm and respectful to one another, DO IT!  Remember, the kids are watching.

If an acceptable understanding or resolution cannot be formulated, the next step is to escalate and discuss the issue with a committee member. If this cannot resolve the issue or build significant understanding to mitigate the problem, the details will be documented by the involved committee member and promptly passed to ALL committee members for review.  An investigation will be conducted and decisions will be made.

If after working with the BPAA Soccer committee you are still dissatisfied with the outcome, you may escalate your issue to the BPAA Executive Committee. They will discuss all materials and information collected up to that point regarding the subject matter.

If you are not comfortable with this process, we will require an acceptable (to us) reason why the person or persons in question have not honored this policy, so please remember that before you decide to circumvent this hierarchy. The people in this chain of command will do their best to help resolve your issues and ensure that your kids are having the best experience possible.

Thank you and remember, IT'S ALL ABOUT THE KIDS!!!
