Youth Development Teams (YDT)

Our 1st/2nd grade program is designed to introduce the game of basketball to our league's youngest players.  The goal of our YDT league is to provide the opportunity for boys and girls to experience the sport of basketball at a beginning level and improve their skills throughout the season.  Players will be taught basic skills and concepts in addition to teamwork and other life skills.  They will be challenged to improve their skill level and try new techniques that will enable them to perform to the best of their ability.

Skills contests, 3-on-3 and 5-on-5 games against other teams in the league will be scheduled progressively throughout the season.  None of these contests will be scored and no standings will be kept in an effort to place emphasis appropriately on player/team development vs wins/losses/standings.

Practices start the first week of November.  Practices are held on weekdays, usually for one hour between 6:00-9:00 p.m. at one of our area Elementary or Middle Schools

Team practice and game schedules will be posted on their respective team pages on our website.  Teams have a minimum of one practice per week with older teams periodically having either an extended practice or a 2nd practice night in a week.

Head Coaches select their practice dates/times at the Coaches Meeting held in mid-October.

Games are held on Friday nights from November through January. Games run for one hour between the hours of 6:00 - 9:30 p.m.

An End of Season Tournament will be held the first weekend in February.

1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th grade divisions play in an instructional league during part of the season, followed by regular league games.

5th grade boys division plays a full season of league games.
