Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is there a cancellation fee? 
    Yes.  Before the season begins, there is a $20 processing fee.  No refunds after the season begins. 
  • What is the amount of scholarship available? 
    Scholarship reduces registration by $40.  There are a limited number available. 
  • What are the scholarship requirements? 
    A copy of your 1040 tax form from last year must be submitted with a completed scholarship form at one of the registration events at the Brooklyn Park Community Activity Center (763-493-8333).  Forms are available at the Community Activity Center window.  ALL scholarships must be applied for in person.  There are also 2 in person registration dates for paying with cash, or requesting financial aid.  Look under Important Dates.
  • When do practices start? 
    Shortly after team formation in the second half of June. Practices are scheduled at the discretion of the team coach and can be held at any local park or field.
  • Where are games held? 
    Zane Sports Park and Noble Sports Park fields. Fields
  • When do games start and end? 
    Games begin at 6:15 PM and 7:30 PM for younger players (U6 -U11) and last approximately one hour; games for older players (U12-U18) begin at 8:30 PM (under lights). 
  • What nights of the week are games played? 
    Each division is either on a Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday schedule (this is decided after registration when the number of players per division is known).  Make-up games (for weather cancellation) are usually played on Fridays. Weather
  • What equipment is required? 
    Players need to provide shorts, shin guards, and appropriate shoes (cleats preferred/recommended).  A jersey (uniform) and socks are included with the registration fee.
  • How do you determine the teams? 
    Teams are formed by balancing available coaches, equal numbers of players by age (e.g., 8 and 9 year olds on a U8/U9 team), player experience level, reciprocal friend requests, and ensuring the teams from the previous season are not left intact. 
  • How and when will I be contacted? 
    Shortly after team formation in the second half of June, coaches will contact player guardians via email or telephone. Player guardians will also be notified of their team and coach via email.
  • Can a child play up a division or down a division without permission? 
    No.  A child may play up a division for the season at the explicit request of the parent, which is indicated during the registration process. A child may not play down a division. A player may only be registered on one team for the season, but can play on a team in the division above as a one-time guest player. Rules & Policies
  • If I want to coach, what do I do?

  • What do volunteer duties entail? What are the choices for dates and times to volunteer? In addition to coaching, other volunteer opportunities related to the Soccer Committee include helping with the season-end tournament, division coordinating, database management, referees, equipment, fields and scheduling, and registration processing. Duties, dates, and times vary with each opportunity but are primarily focused in the time before the season begins (March - June) and during the season (July - August). 
  • Who contacts me if I choose to volunteer? 
    A member of the committee who is responsible for the area where the individual is interested in volunteering. Committee
  • Can I request a coach? 
    No. 
  • Can I request to not be on a coach's team? 
    Yes. 
  • May I play on a friend’s team? 
    Yes, but only if both players request each other (reciprocal friend request). Note:  No player requests may be made after regular registration ends and team formation has begun. Also, if the player has a sibling at the same age level, they may not make a friend request; siblings at the same age level are automatically placed together.   • May I request to not be on a player’s team? 
    No.
