American League & Traveling League Tryouts

Baseball Tryouts are at Hamline University

Brooklyn Park Baseball Association in cooperation with the Hamline University Baseball program has scheduled the 2015 American League and Traveling League tryouts to take place on February 21, 2015 at the Hamline University Field House.

The Hamline University Baseball program is recognized as one of the top baseball programs in the state and is a major supporter of youth baseball. They have years of experience in conducting coach & player clinics, and are excited to be working with our organization again this year.

This year’s tryouts will be similar in format to last year. Hamline University Baseball will be conducting a baseball clinic along with tryouts, and player evaluations. The clinic is designed to better develop each child’s skills and fundamentals for all aspects of the game, and to make the tryout a fun and memorable experience. The Hamline University Baseball staff will conduct all of the evaluations.

Hamline University Fieldhouse is located at 1536 Hewitt Avenue St. Paul, one block east of Snelling Avenue. It is just south of the Hamline football stadium. Parking is available one block east of the fieldhouse. View campus map located to the right.

Note: If a child is unable to make their scheduled clinic/tryout time we will try to accommodate them in another age group. Please try to adjust your schedule to meet your child’s designated time.

Tryout Player Requirements

  • Every player must try to make their scheduled tryout time in order to be most properly scored.
  • Players must try out in the league they want to be eligible for in the draft (switching to a more competitive league after tryouts will NOT be permitted).
  • Players will be grouped by age.  Any player that can not make their scheduled tryout time may come to a specified alternate time where they may be grouped with kids of differing ages such as make up group #5 below.  If they still can not make a tryout time, they must make arrangements by contacting Tryout Director, Chris Wiles.
  • To provide the kids a distraction free tryout, parents will not be permitted in the field house during tryouts.
  • Each player should bring their own glove and gym shoes.    Players may bring their own bats and batting helmets but if necessary, batting helmets will be provided along with some appropriate bats for each age group.
  •  PLEASE ARRIVE 30 MINUTES PRIOR TO YOUR CHILD’S TRYOUT TIME FOR CHECK-IN.
