FOOTBALL –Markus Carter
Was still trying to work with School District to see if can use any of school football equipment and the answer is a definite “no”. Made flyers for the 7th & 8th grade programs and gave to coaches from Park Center and Osseo. Waiting to see if # of kids that sign up will surpass equipment. 4 Teams in 7th & 8th grade Program. Still waiting to see how many In-House Teams there will be.
BASKETBALL – Jerry Gamber
Last week-end of the Season coming up. A lot of positive comments regarding having the weekend Tournament style. Going to go through City for Registration next Fall.
SOCCER – Dave Gulbrandson
Registration began – right now more coaches than players signed up. Alot of interest in an adult league. Perhaps it would make sense to put under BPAA umbrella. Steve from City of BP brought up lack of Soccer Fields may become an issue.
BASEBALL – Scott Smeaton absent, but had sent e-mail earlier stating:
Scott also e-mailed the following question:
What was the verdict with regard to background checks?
Do we have a standard to follow? We're ready to execute ours.
SOFTBALL – Ed Ampe & Bryan Bachand
Registrations have come along nicely. 9 8U Teams, 4 10U Teams, 4 12U, 6 14U, 2 16U, 2-3 19U, 6-7 fast-pitch. About 350-360 kids now, so far. Had about 400 last year. Sent out flyers to an additional 8,000 this year. A lot of new committee members. PC band interested in helping to man the Concessions and split the profit. Have new hats for coaches. Sat down with Champlin softball directors – their numbers have been dropping over the years also. Brainstorming how they can leverage their programs. They allow Team Registrations and they also have Rec. teams – now they’ve split them up into 2 Divisions as the organized teams usually beat the Rec. teams pretty badly. We have all Rec. teams. Since we only have 2-3 19U we’ve had to go to Champlin – they are now willing to come to Brooklyn Park. Steve Gulenchyn recommended they have discussion with Baseball. Registration system through the City was excellent. Kudos to Gina Magstadt from City of Brooklyn Park.
FAST-PITCH SOFTBALL –absent
CITY OF BROOKLYN PARK – Steve Gulenchyn
Getting scheduling set up. We are invited to Volunteer Appreciation Dinner hosted by City of Brooklyn Park on Thursday, April 2nd from 6-8:30 p.m. at CAC.
