Need to do more transfers in the Football accounts between House and Traveling.

Admin account looks like it is positive for the first time – that is because the $5,000 check from USA ProAm Foundation was entered here.  Don’t know if this is the appropriate place for it.

Regarding Baseball need to get non-Brooklyn Park numbers from Scott Smeaton.  Soccer non-residents #: 180 players.

FOOTBALL –Markus Carter

2nd-6th grade – had last games last week.  More issues at the end of the season – parent & coach complaints.  One mom said she didn’t think it is fair for 2nd & 3rd graders to tackle from behind.  Complaints about refs missing calls.  Callistus does not plan on being the Commissioner next year.  Year end banquet November 8th – hoping for a good turn out like last year.  Only down 25 players from last year – 13 to Champlin Park & 8 went to Osseo.  Steve wondered if District 279 cutting football affected our numbers at all.  We didn’t see a lot more kids come out to BPAA football due to the cut.  Arnie, Ref Commissioner, stated this year complaints from the refs were minimal.  Getting calendar ready for next year – looking at some sort of evaluation for the younger kids next year to try to keep teams more equally talented.  This would be open to the parents.  We would need earlier commitment from coaches.

7th-8th Grade:  Season over – 3 teams made play-offs: Titans, Saints & Mustangs had very good records.  Yellow Jackets had a good year as well.  Banquet Nov. 18th @ Palmer Lake VFW – Viking will be a guest – catered by Famous Dave’s.  Titans are going to Wichita, Kansas for Tournament Nov. 7th-9th.

BASKETBALL – Jerry Gamber

Had coaches meeting last Sunday for Elem. Teams – numbers are down.  38 Elem. Teams 2nd – 5th  grade.  14 Jr. High teams – 6th-8th grade.  Doing scheduling.  About 500 kids – had over 600 last year.  Some of the kids left BPAA to go to CDAA to play with friends from school.  Jerry is researching possible other explanations for the drop this year.  Practices start 1st and 2nd week of November.

SOCCER – Dave Gulbrandson

Should let parents know there will be a conflict between Soccer & Softball.

BASEBALL – absent

SOFTBALL – Ed Ampe

Had 5 people show up for 1st meeting – 2 of them were new.  Will probably start May 4th.  Steve thinks fields will be in fine shape.  BPAA Tournament will be 18th-19th of July.  Ed will be talking to Champlin and look at playing 1 night a week instead of 2 – on opposite nights of Champlin.  Then maybe some players could play for both.  We are losing players in upper division.  The 14U wondered why we invited Champlin to the tournament.  Kim Phillips is going to stay on as chair.  Compared expenses with income and are down $40,000 from where they are usually at.  Had dropped fees for first time players.  Just didn’t bring in the income.  May have to increase fees, but then have a better scholarship program.

FAST-PITCH SOFTBALL –absent

CITY OF BROOKLYN PARK – Steve Gulenchyn

Have a couple checks $76 for  House League football, $223 for Traveling football, $66 for Slow-pitch softball.  Cleaning up accounts.  Sent Dan bill for storage.  Brookdale storage bill should be going to Baseball.  Treasurer Dave Corbett will send Scott Smeaton an e-mail regarding the Brookdale storage bill.  Dave reported the $17,000 bill was paid – Steve will verify.  This was 3rd of 5 payments – so have 2 payments left.

Investigating re-development of Monroe Park - new soccer field.  Based on City of BP taking a look at adding another game-quality field to the Park System.  Presently have total of 4-5 baseball/softball fields there now owned by school - they are in bad shape.  The one field there owned by BP is in good shape.  May talk with Anoka-Hennepin regarding getting a couple of the fields they own in better shape.  Only 12 games were played there this Summer.  It’s a shame to have a large facility like this to be in as poor shape as it is.  OLM group (Organization for Liberians living in MN) which is a resident group of BP is looking for somewhere to play soccer.  They are willing to do fundraising for this project if it gets approved by City Council.  Steve will not be at the November meeting next month.

ADULT BASEBALL - Wayne Heuer

Next week will start planning for next year.

OLD BUSINESS

At last month’s meeting Bryan Bachand, Wells Fargo Home Mortgage, presented The Sharing Advantage Program and is proposing a partnership with BPAA parents – one of Wells Fargo’s Marketing Programs.  When a mortgage is closed $300 will be donated to BPAA.  This issue is being postponed until next month.

NEW BUSINESS

Board Nominations for voting next month:  Dan Williams nominated for President, Markus Carter nominated for Vice-President, Lynell Tanner nominated for Secretary, Gail Corbett nominated for Treasurer.
