TREASURER’S REPORT

Balance Sheet Detail, as of 6/24/08, submitted by Dave Corbett.

Discussion about cell phone charges being kind of high.  Dave will have Gail check on it.

Check given to Steve for City of BP for $5 per Basketball player – question why that has to be paid since there are no fields, etc… Steve stated every building is staffed by the City when there are activities going on in any building.  The fee is Universal for all sports.  Previously BPAA had been told fees were going up because school district has to pay to staff the buildings.  Steve stated City pays a portion of the cost for the staffing as well.  Jerry Gamber will make some calls to check.

Need final counts from Baseball and Softball.

FOOTBALL – Markus

Registration starts July 16th – 4 registrations.  A lot of kids showed up for Tater Daze Parade.  Problem with Baseball – there were a bunch of coaches and a bunch of little guys – they were throwing candy even though they’d been told not to.  Would like to get some static stickers for BPAA Football – they got a quote and the business owner will not fill the order unless he gets the money in advance – he said BPAA Baseball burned him a few years ago.  Markus would like to see someone from Baseball make this right.   Dan shared that someone from Hastings called stating she needed to get payment for trophies she made for BPAA.  Dan called and it turns out a baseball team went on their own and ordered some trophies under the name BPAA, but never paid for them.  Markus asked the business owner for the Invoice – maybe baseball can just pay for them out of their budget.  Kentco Signs – Markus got a check so he can order 300 of the static stickers.  Good committee working on tournament planning – Aug. 21-24th

BASKETBALL – Jerry

Going to start meeting with Northwest Suburban.  Osseo, Maple Grove decided to keep their 6th graders in the Elementary Program.  Registrations begin in September – probably going to keep it the same as last year for one more year and then will make switch to doing registration through the City.

SOCCER – Valerie

Just had 2nd coaches meeting.  Season begins July 14th.   1145 players is current count.  Will be handing out equipment next week, need to check with City to make sure all fields are ready.  Steve reported all permits have been pulled.  Keep in mind for next year – soccer tournament for Tater Daze didn’t pan out, so it was more of a soccer clinic.  Would have liked to have had lights, but didn’t know who to call.  Steve referred her to Denise Renee – Overall Coordinator of Tater Daze.

Zane DQ had agreed last year to help with Concessions if he could sell at the tournament.  Concessions kept blowing fuses at Noble by the bathrooms.  Steve said those issues should be verified when permits being pulled. Vendors could bring their own Generators.

DQ Manager giving promotion of $3 Blizzards – he would like us to promote DQ throughout the season – like a banner on the fence.

Dan said maybe we could put something on the BPAA website.

It would be nice if chalker was removed from the shed.

Dan will send an e-mail telling everyone to get their things out of the shed.

BASEBALL - Wayne

Adult baseball is going well – we’re competitive – 2-4-1.  Worked through some logistics issues with field and lights.  Have website www.brooklynparktwins.org has schedule – probably should link up to BPAA.  Getting Boosters going this week-end to discuss fundraising.

Our National teams are playing Champlin American league teams and coaches are not very happy.  Speed of pitching is lopsided.  Brooklyn Park kids are starting to not show up for games.

SOFTBALL – Ed

2/3 of season done – only one incident so far of parent getting kicked out of game for yelling at umpire.  Ed has installed bat holders at field.  Smooth season so far.  Getting ready for tournament coming up July 18th-20th.  Permit requests have been done.

CITY OF BROOKLYN PARK – Steve

Working on getting rainouts scheduled.  Getting Football into the City’s Registration system.  Regarding Cushman issue, no resolution – hand dragging.
