The meeting was held at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 25, 2007 at the Brooklyn Park Community Center.

TREASURER’S REPORT:

·                     Need a check from soccer to City.

·                     M/S/P.

CITY:

·                     Laurie introduced Jon Oyanagi, our new Park & Rec Director.  He has over 26 years experience and most recently was from the Minneapolis Park & Rec.

FOOTBALL – Markus:

·                     Halfway through the season.

·                     Some problems with the weather, specifically lightening, so had to reschedule game(s).

·                     A few problems need to be resolved.

·                     Fields look great.

BASKETBALL – Jerry:

·                     Last registration was Thursday.

·                     Had 160 registrations online; 500 registrations total.

·                     Usually have 800 total.

·                     Need the P. O. Box key.

·                     Problem with gym permits with District 279.  Have to pay $45 per school and now have to submit twice a year so it will cost an extra $1,000.  Anoka is $13 an hour so can be extra as well.  We are using mostly District 279 gyms.

·                     There is a coaches’ clinic on October 28.

SOCCER – Dave G.:

·                     We are in between seasons.

·                     Meetings start up in October.

·                     Working on costs – should be well within the proposed budget.

BASEBALL –

·                     We need to start getting a rep here.

SOFTBALL – Ed:

·                     Kim Phillips will be the new chair; Ed will be the vice chair.

·                     10/07 will be the first meeting.

·                     10/14 will be the appreciation dinner.

·                     Trying to set the registration dates.

CITY – Laurie:

·                     Because of the earlier damage to the Armory, the City will now be requiring a $500 rental and damage/usage fee deposit by outside teams.

·                     The City talked to the coach and parent and haven’t been able to recover any costs to damaged gym.

NEW BUSINESS:

·                     Dan asked that we discuss the ramifications of recruiting in BPAA teams.  It seems this affects softball most of all.

·                     Suggestions to curtail this problem were to:

o        set up a criteria and follow it

o        have a clinic at the start of the season or once a month – whatever it takes

o        set up a coaches’ association.

MSP.
