BPAA MINUTES FOR MARCH, 2007

 

The meeting was held at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 27, 2007 at the Brooklyn Park Community Center.

 

ATTENDEES:

·                     Dan Williams, Mark Palm, David Gulbrandson, Dave Corbett, Mike Mattox, Wayne Heuer and Dede Boelter.

 

SECRETARY’S REPORT:

·                     Correction to bullet 3 in the Softball section.  It should read:  Two 14U teams and one 16U team.

·                     M/S/P.

 

TREASURER’S REPORT:

·                     Online registrations are going okay.  If we are using Developing Solutions we’ll have to be observant with watching transactions coming in.

·                     A few deposits are not in yet.

·                     M/S/P.

 

SOFTBALL – Dave C:

·                     Teams will be playing with Champlin to make up teams.  We lost one to fast pitch.  Lost one to Champlin from last year. 

·                     Have 100 each in groups 8U, 10U and 12U.  Would like to see 20 more in each.

·                     Would like improvements made at Zanewood.  Am meeting with Mark on March 28.

 

BASEBALL – Mike:

·                     Have 640 – 645 registered now.  Had 665 registered last year.

·                     Working with Champlin; it will provide three teams.  Am asking Champlin to provide a park, too.

·                     Had tryouts at Hamline.  Hamline charged $20 per player and cost was passed on to player so broke about even.

·                     Will e-mail budget.

 

SOCCER – Dave G:

·                     Soccer budget distributed.  M/S/P.

·                     Finishing up soccer flyer.  Will be on the website.

·                     Soccer is going with the City for registration.  Currently working with them setting up the database, etc.

·                     Three in-house registrations will be set.

 

CITY – Mark:

·                     Jay Lotthammer has resigned and accepted a new position as Director of Recreation & Parks in Eden Prairie.  His goodbye party is April 12 at McTavish’s.

·                     Brooklyn Park’s Volunteer Party is April 5.

·                     The City is looking at new fencing at Zane Sports Park.

·                     Am ready for field reservations for softball and baseball.

 

FOOTBALL – no rep.

 

BASKETBALL – no rep.

 

NEW BUSINESS – Dan:

·                     Made a motion to give $100 as a farewell gift to Jay from BPAA.  M/S/P.

·                     Bob Click from Kelly’s & Mad Jack’s Restaurants will be at the April meeting to discuss his scholarship program.

 

NEXT MEETING is Tuesday, April 24 at 8:30 p.m. at Brooklyn Park Community Center, Senior Room 2.
