BPAA MINUTES FOR JULY,
2007
The meeting was held at 8:30 p.m. on
Tuesday, July 31, 2007 at the
ATTENDEES:

SECRETARY’S
REPORT
·
There was no June
meeting.
TREASURER’S
REPORT:
·
Through 07/31/07.
·

SOCCER:
·
Halfway through the
season.
·
Down 8 teams from last
year.
·
1,200 players this
year.
·
Using Development Solutions –
registration went easy.
·
The interpreter service was brought
up and discussed. Suggested
situations like this should be sent to Bob Click for scholarships/financial
aid/special needs. Bob Click owns
Mad Jack’s and both Kelly’s restaurants.
The scholarship programs are funded through the Edinburgh Pro Am
Association. Suggested someone ask
Bob if he would set aside $1,000 to $1,500 for special needs, like hiring an
interpreter.

A motion was made: “Brooklyn Park Athletic Association, as
an organization, can not allot funds for special needs. That we will do our best to assist or
refer to outside sources.”

FOOTBALL:
·
One more registration set for August
1.
·
100 athletes registered right now,
down from last year.
·
Traveling teams are practicing now
for the
·
Had a couple car wash fundraisers
that went well. Have a Papa Johns
pizza fundraiser coming up. Dick’s
Sporting Goods is coming up this Saturday.
·
Getting dates for the year end
banquet.
·
Have given out 18 partial
scholarships so far. They have to
work for it.
·
Passed out budget for the year.

BASKETBALL:
·
Dates set for in-person registration
– September 13, 18 and 20. Also
have mail outs.
·
Using Online Solutions for
registration.
·
Looking for volunteers. Starting this year parents can “buy out”
of volunteer hours with a check.
·
Will have budget in
August.
SOFTBALL:
·
Done with
season.
·
Had a great tournament in
July.
·
Losing players in upper ages. Had only one 16+U team so they couldn’t
play.
·
Three 19+U teams are
leaving.
·
Trying to build from the
bottom.
CITY:
·
Have new trail maps and passed them
out.
·
Have new Park & Rec Director – Jon Oyanagi. He has a combined 26 years of experience
from the City of
·
The fields are
good.
BASEBALL:
·
Year end picnic was a huge success.
In the past there were 150 to 200
people. This year there were 478
people. We ran out of hot dogs.
·
We sent two teams to
NEW
BUSINESS:
·
As a non-profit
501(c)(3) organization we
can pay for tournaments only. We
can’t reimburse a non-profit entity.
·
