BPAA MINUTES FOR MAY 23, 2006

 

The meeting was held at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 23, 2006, at the Brooklyn Park Community Center.

 

ATTENDEES:

·                     Dede Boelter, Dan Williams, Jerry Gamber, David Gulbrandson, Laurie Pulver, Dave Corbett, Wayne Heuer, Markus Carter, Ed Ampe, Valerie Leone and Erline Carter.

 

SECRETARY’S REPORT:

·                     M/S/P

 

TREASURER’S REPORT:

·                     There is an unassigned account with $102.01 in it.  This is a United Way donation that was not stated to go to a specific sport.  Will keep in the administrative account until the end of the year.  If we find out who it’s designated to will send that way; otherwise will split five ways at the end of the year.

·                     A stop payment was issued to a check given to a referee by his/her request.  The referee should be reimbursing that cost.

·                     We should run a new NSF list.  Some people have paid up so they should be removed from the list.  Markus will provide a current list.

SOFTBALL – Ed & Dave

·                     Registrations are done.

·                     6 teams total.

·                     2 new umpires.

·                     Tournament is set for July 21/22/23.

 

BASEBALL – Wayne

·                     700 players are registered.

·                     56 teams.

·                     10 total for Babe Ruth.

 

SOCCER – David & Valerie

·                     The last registration was tonight (May 23).

·                     Will start forming teams on June 1.

·                     The season starts July 17.

·                     48 players received financial aid; most paid a partial fee of at least ½.

·                     Most people were okay with how the NSF collection was handled.

·                     1,000 players registered so far this year.

 

FOOTBALL – Markus

·                     Registration starts June 1.

·                     Budget presented.  M/S/P

·                     This year’s banquet will be held at Brunswick Zone.

 

BASKETBALL – Jerry

·                     Met with the City regarding scheduling gym time on May 19.  Mark Palm and Tammy were present.

·                     Will be meeting twice a month to work things out.

·                     Richard is no longer helping – on our own.

 

CITY – Laurie

·                     Jay is out until June 2.

·                     All games are set for softball and baseball.

·                     Softball and baseball should designate one person to contact the City to reschedule/make up a game.

·                     Will begin working on soccer scheduling soon.

 

OLD BUSINESS – Dan

·                     Valerie checked out information on charitable gambling and ran a spread sheet.  

·                     Fees were more than $500 so didn’t apply.  It’s $775 to register for a license.  Take it out of the administrative account.

·                     We have to pay taxes on the income.

·                     Hockey paid $1,750 a month in rent to Kelly’s.

 

NEW BUSINESS – Dan

·                     Target made a donation of $1,000 last month to fast pitch.

·                     Soccer has an NSF box to us as a flag to those people; we should add this to all registration forms.

·                     Linda St. John is retiring on June 29.  The Board is welcome to her party.

 

NEXT MEETING IS TUESDAY, JUNE 27 AT 8:30 P.M.  Brooklyn Center Community Center, Community Conference Room.
