*    Markus asked to see an itemization of the ESPN magazines sold so knows how much money raised.  Dave will prepare a spreadsheet.
*    M/S/P

FOOTBALL (Markus):
*    Halfway through the season.
*    Nothing bad - no phone calls.
*    There was an irrigation system problem on the field, which was fixed.
*    Season done the end of October.

BASKETBALL (Richard):
*    Had four registration nights in September.  800 players signed up.  Maybe 1,000 when done.
*    A commitee meeting is set for October 3.  Jr/Sr program meeting was September 26.
*    Someone from MYAS is coming to hold a 2 1/2 hr referee clinic.
*    Having a meeting to discuss consistency with payments to cities, i.e. Brooklyn Park, Maple Grove, etc.
*    The permit to request gym time at Osseo is going in tomorrow (09/30).
*    New equipment is being ordered.
*    Visited the new Earle Brown gym.  It might not work for basketball games.  Not enough adjustable hoops.  There are three practice courts; nice floor.

*    Have a contract with EZScoreboard.

*    Met with Jay regarding fields.

SOCCER (John & Dave):
*    Owe $7,285 to City (1,457 players).
*    Will meet in October to elect officers.
*    Don't have concessions report yet.  Approximate guess is $500.
*    Committee would like to gift $500 to John in appreciation for all his work and in recognition of outstanding service.  Not sure if he should accept.  Should the Board vote?  Discussion - This is a volunteer organization.  We don't get paid.  The only paid position is that of treasurer and that is fairly recent.  Initially all positions were volunteer.  Decided to table until October meeting.

CITY (Jay):
*    Brochure deadline is in two weeks (10/11).  Brochure will come out in early December for classes in Dec/Jan/Feb.
*    Distributed a proposed storage building packet.  If we stay under 2,000 square feet we won't have to put a sprinkler system in it.  That would almost double the cost.  It will be on slab with electricity and heat.  Will be done in July, 2005.  In the $90,000 range.  Another $50,000 for water & sprinkler system.  The Central Park building is approx. 1,200 sq. ft.  Will need more than one exit.  The proposed configuration has a separate area for each sport.  Each area has its own locking door.  Discussed maybe combining a couple sports into one room.  Will have open trusses, 10' ceiling.  Not sure if this is the best layout - open to other suggestions.  It will be facing east to the parking lot and have a 3-4' overhang.  We need to work out how we're going to pay for it. Figure out funding and method for financing, ongoing electrical, and replacement costs (paint, reroofing, etc).  Work out a proposal for the City Council.  A metal buildingn probably woldn't pass.  Would like an overhang more like 10'.  Larger overhand will add an additional $15,000 - $20,000 to the price tag because of increased footprint.  Discussed funding.  Is $10 increase per player too much?  Basketball has 1,000 players but doesn't need as much space as, say, football with fewer players.  Need to work out space - apportion square footage usage to cost.  Adjust price per player per sport?
*    Central Park building comes down in fall of 2005.
*    Steve Ruden is no longer working for the City of Brooklyn Park.  Erica Anderson is replacement (763-315-8427).  Jay will bring her to a meeting for introductions.

TAXES:
*    Dave needs to follow up with Jim Hoskins.  We need to file taxes before we can proceed with 501C3 process.  Would like to get done ASAP.

BOARD NOMINATIONS:
*    Nominations are in October.  Let Dede know if you are not staying on or if you are running for a new position.  If you know of anyone who would like to run for a Board position, invite them to the October meeting.

NEXT MEETING IS TUESDAY, OCTOBER 26 AT 7:30 p.m.  I think it's Senior Rm #1 (but it might be #2).  Reminder I will not be in attendance.
