Referees

To officiate BPAA Soccer games, referees must be certified by the Minnesota State Referee Committee. Please note: referees must be recertified annually. Prospective referees should complete the Referee Application Form (in the side bar) and send to Ed Gallagher (address below). If you are over 18 years of age, you also will need to complete the informed consent for criminal background check (also in the side bar), and submit it along with your completed Referee Application Form.

The Minnesota State Referee Committee website contains the list of all clinics available for training as well as online registrations.

New for 2012: it is mandatory for all referees to go through the free CDC concussion training. You can do this at any time in advance of the season and it does not take long to complete. (This is a requirement of the state of Minnesota. For more information on the requirement, read here.) When finished, email your certificate of completion to Ed Gallagher. That's it! If you cannot save the certificate to your computer, print out a hard copy. This also can be sent to Ed Gallagher. Contact him for further details or questions about completing the concussion training as a referee.
