Master Descriptions of
the volunteer jobs
Board Positions
President:
Provides direction for the organization. Lead monthly
association and board meetings. Serves as a contact for the BPAA
general organization.
Vice-President: Works with the president to see to the
running of the association. Fills in for the president when they
are not available at different association meetings.
Head Commissioner: Communicates league direction to the multiple
league commissioners. Provides assistance with league issues when
the specific league commissioner is unavailable or has a conflict on
interest. Assists with coordination of inter-league tournaments and
other activities.
Volunteer Coordinator: This person acts as the contact person
for those interested in volunteering with BPBA, assists the Volunteer
Schedulers as needed, etc.

Other Positions
Advertising/Fund Raising Coordinator:
This position is responsible for obtaining new, and following up with
existing league sponsors for continued contributions. Includes
everything from advertising banners, to scorecards and possibly
uniforms.
All-Star Game Coordinator: Solicit
sponsors/participants (Bingo cards, DQ prizes, team photos...);
Publicize on-line, on other baseball literature, thru city & press...;
Draft schedule of event, MC script & budget with Board approval; Make
accommodations for other activities (fundraising, apparel); Coordinate
staffing of event with help from Volunteer Coordinator; Report to
Treasurer/Board on activity.
Apparel Coordinator:
Develop “this year’s” apparel line/pricing/timing of offerings with help
from supplier and with Board approval, Publicize on-line (working with
Webmaster), on other baseball literature, at baseball events...;
Coordinate staffing of apparel stations at events with help from
Volunteer Coordinator; Report to Treasurer/Board on activity
City Liaison & Scheduling Coordinator: This position is
responsible for acting as a liaison with the city and other sports to
ensure that fields are available, umpires are assigned and teams are
informed. Works with the Head Commissioner.
Clinic
Coordinator: determine dates, skill focus areas, organize
clinic leaders
Communications: write article communicating our presence in the
community to the local newspaper and through writing of quarterly
newsletters
Complex Maintenance
Manager:
Works with the city and volunteers to keep the fields in playing
condition for players and fans.
Concession Stand
Coordinator & Assistant: These people are responsible for stocking
the concession stand, managing the money, obtaining and following all
city permits and codes, etc. The Concession Stand Coordinator is a paid
position. Please see a Board member for more information.
End-of-Season Picnic Coordinator: Solicit
participants/sponsors (prizes, photographer, entertainment..); Apply for
permits thru City; Draft schedule of event, MC script & budget with
Board approval; Publicize on-line, on other baseball literature...; Make
accommodations for other activities (fundraising, apparel); Coordinate
staffing of event with help from Volunteer Coordinator; Report to
Treasurer/Board on activity
Fundraising Coordinator: Develop “this year’s” fundraising
event(s) with Board approval; Publicize on-line, on other baseball
literature, at baseball events...; Coordinate staffing of fundraising
stations at events with help from Volunteer Coordinator; Report to
Treasurer/Board on activity
League Commissioners: Commissioners are
needed for each league. The League Commissioner is responsible for
communicating information to (and from) coaches and parents in their
respective league. We would like Commissioners to be present at league
games, and to attend and assist with league events. It is preferred that
this person is also not a coach in their league.
Opening Day Coordinator: This person is responsible for
organizing the Opening Day Ceremonies, getting guests, drafting a
schedule, obtaining prizes, etc. Volunteers will be scheduled to help
with this event.
Registration Contact: This person organizes the Registration
process, schedules all the volunteers, makes sure all the supplies are
available, reserves the rooms at the Community Center, etc.
Registration Database
Manager: Utilize the BPBA MS Access database application to prepare
registration mailings to prior participants, enter the current year's
registrations & team formation, and report to the association officials
ad-hoc reports of information.
Rules and Policies:
This position is responsible for maintaining our league rules books,
holding ad-hoc meetings to revise and clarify rules as suggested at
Association Meetings, and working with the website to post updates.
Tater Daze Parade Coordinator: Work with BPAA staff to
complete parade application & cable TV announcer’s script; Solicit
sponsors/participants (Wal-mart inflatable balls, candy, photographer);
Obtain budget approval from Board; Publicize on-line, on other baseball
literature...; Coordinate chaperones at event with help from Volunteer
Coordinator; Report to Treasurer/Board on activity
Team Pictures Coordinator: Develop “this year’s”
team picture taking event (photographer/pricing/timing) with Board
approval; Publicize on-line, on other baseball literature, at baseball
events...; Coordinate staffing of event with help from Volunteer
Coordinator; Report to Treasurer/Board on activity
Volunteer Schedulers: These people are responsible for
completing the volunteer work schedule, maintaining & monitoring the
volunteer work list, volunteer checks, etc. Three people are desired.
Website Coordinator: Update the website throughout the
registration period and season with information needed by families of
baseball. Requires some basic webpage knowledge.
