2009 Traveling Player Announcement
If your child is considering trying
out for a traveling team next year, we will be conducting our “outdoor
evaluations” in September 2008, rather than spring 2009.
The 12 Year Old evaluations, which were postponed due to rain, on Saturday
September 13th at Northwoods, will be held Saturday, September 27
Warm-ups will begin at 10:45.
Infield, Outfield, Batting, and Pitching skills will be held between 11:00 and 12:00.
A scrimmage will follow the skills work out.
If all goes as planned, we should be complete by 2.
If you are considering playing traveling baseball during 2009, please
e-mail Tony Kiminski with the
player name and age.
As in the past, the “outdoor evaluation” helps coaches with selection of
teams after our regular indoor tryouts have taken place (usually early
March at Hamline University). It gives the coaches a look at how game
situations/field play is handled by those trying out for a traveling team.
We also feel the kids will perform better having been playing all summer
long. In the past the outdoor evaluations have been the end of March.
Having to rely on a warm Minnesota spring is challenging; we feel
September would be more conducive to the evaluation process. Teams will
not be selected until after March indoor tryouts, however the outdoor
evaluation is a required piece of the process.

Volunteer Shifts
The BPBA Traveling Teams play through the Gopher State Baseball League hosted by the Minnesota Youth Athletic Service.
Traveling teams play a 14-16 game schedule starting the first week in May. In addition, teams will play in 3-4 weekend tournaments, including the 2007 Spring Invitational - hosted by BPAA. Those that qualify may also play in the Gopher State Tournament of Champions in mid-July.
